Role Overview:
As a Business Development Representative (SMB) your role will be to actively reach out to, interview, and vet qualified startups for potential acceptance into our accelerator programs across the globe. In order to be successful in this role, you will need to have superb interpersonal skills, charisma, and a deep desire to learn about specific tech industries and verticals.
You will develop and execute strategies that effectively engage with startups looking to fundraise and scale as your job will be to communicate the value of the Newchip accelerator program, investor network, e-learning platform, and other benefits to startups for the first time, encourage them to apply and ultimately take a call with a member of our admissions team.
Over time, your success will be measured by how many high quality companies you are able to identify, establish relationships with, and get to apply to our accelerator programs. This role is full time only, no contractors or part-time.
Roles at Newchip have a base salary with uncapped commissions, paid employee benefits, and success based incentive goals (paid monthly, quarterly, and yearly) in addition to comp band levels 1-4 based on experience:
Total Annual Comp: $70,000-$85,000
Role OTE: $60,000-$75,000
Base Pay (Based on Experience): $35,000-$45,000
Commission at 100% of Target: $25,000
Stock Bonus: Up to $10,000 Per Year
FT / PT: Full time only, no contractors or part-time.

Responsibilities:
- Achieve agreed upon personal and team targets, quotas, and outcomes within schedule
- Reach out to qualified in-bound leads through email, text, LinkedIn messaging, and direct calls
- Qualify leads, research accounts, and follow through on leads to close partnerships
- Establish, develop and maintain positive business and customer relationships
- Understanding and promoting company programs and initiatives with up-sells
- Present, promote and sell products/services using solid arguments to existing and prospective customers
- Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints to maximize satisfaction
- Coordinate effort with team members and other departments at Newchip
- Analyze the territory/market’s potential, track deals and status reports
- Keep abreast of best practices and promotional trends in the market
- Continuously improve through feedback and coaching with management and team
- Provide management with reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services
Requirements
- Proven work experience in Business Development, Sales Development, Marketing, or similar roles
- Hands-on experience with multiple sales and sales funnel techniques
- Track record of achieving quotas and most importantly maintaining client relationships
- Strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Bachelor's degree
- Able to work in Austin, TX office
- Cannot need visa sponsorship or have any work restrictions in the U.S
Preferred:
- Intimate knowledge of the industry, our partners, and Newchip
- Experience with CRM software (e.g. Salesforce, Hubspot)
- Understanding of sales performance metrics
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize workflows

- A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements
