Job Summary

GPD Optoelectronics is seeking a Sales Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate should possess a genuine interest in applying a strong technical background to helping others through customer service. This would include interpreting customer needs and problem solving to find the optimum solution, explaining product specifications to research and instrument design engineers, and building and maintaining customer relationships at all levels of their organization.

This full-time, exempt position will report to our Head of Sales and will be located at our Salem, NH facility.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or optical engineering with 1- 4 years of experience.
Strong technical acumen with the talent to clearly articulate complex concepts.
Exceptional interpersonal skills; excellent written and verbal communication.
Highly organized with good time management skills.
Motivated to excel in a multi-cultural, international sales environment.
Curious and enthusiastic with a passion for continuous learning.
Ability to contribute to collaborative, cross department relationships to meet common objectives.
Capable of working both independently and on team projects.
A high standard of ethics, professionalism, and competency.
Willingness and ability to travel domestically.
Microsoft 365, TEAMS, CRM, and ERP prior experience is a plus.
Hybrid, must reside in the Greater Boston Area

Responsibilities

Respond to general inquiries and RFQs, evaluate customer technical requirements, and propose solutions that match the customer’s needs.
Send quotations, process POs, provide delivery updates, and manage various aspects of order processing including communicating with the production team.
Keep detailed customer records in Salesforce (CRM).
Provide technical product support.
Collaborate with internal engineering and manufacturing teams to create specialty product designs per customer specifications.
Regularly engage with existing and prospective customers to maintain relationships, acquire new business, and grow market share.
Initiate RMA’s, provide after-sales support, and communicate customer concerns with quality, engineering, and management.
Represent the company at four trade shows and a few sales visits annually.

Travel may be required (10-20%)
